The start of a New Year is a great time to reflect. Without even realizing I’ve always had such a strong connection with the fashion world. When I was a child I took fancy dress very seriously whether I was being my favorite pop star or a fairy tale character. We hunted for the perfect green crop top when I was sporty spice for the school talent show. I remember my leggings were a nightmare for my mum to wash as I channeled Billie Piper on a daily basis. And my poor dad had to carry me from spot to spot when I had a silver mermaid tale. I used to strut along the hallway in my Grandparents house and insisted I would be a model. Despite that dream being cut short when I stopped growing at 5”4, I realized that it was putting the outfits together that really excited me and filled me with a warmth when a look was complete.

As I grew older I certainly experimented with fashion. In my eyes the 00s was just not a decade of fabulous fashion. I’m not sure whether this was because I was a teenager trying to find my personal style or because bootleg jeans, Abercrombie polos and ‘scene kid’ style was never something I could embrace – regrettably I tried.

This being said I have always known that the fashion industry is the only place for me so I headed straight to London. After four years of studying a fantastic fashion course and completing various internships – I was ready to make a name for myself.

I began working at MATCHESFASHION.COM- this was the dream. Not only did beautiful designer clothing surround me but I also worked with a group of girls who are now some of my closest friends. My shopping habits drastically changed at this job and that has really transformed my style into something I’m so happy with. Dolce and Gabbana Espadrilles, Valentino Rockstud flats and suede fringed YSL bags are a few of the temptations that I gave into. I started to buy key investment accessories that I can love forever, in turn this meant that shopping for clothing was put on a holt. I started to wear a lot of black and began to feel that I looked the same everyday. As a commuter I went for ease in the morning and would just chuck on whatever felt comfortable. I did begin to feel stuck in a rut.

After over a year working at Matches I landed my actual dream job as a celebrity stylist and personal shopper. Yes I get paid to shop – every girls dream right? I couldn’t contain how excited I was and anyone who knows me can tell you that 90% of what I talk about is work related- this is because I LOVE my job. Everyday I have to pinch myself when I realize that I am living my dream and although it’s tough and very hard work, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Everyday is different and I feel a flame inside me has been relit. I’m inspired to start playing around with my style again and really embrace my own personal style. I’m so excited to document this for you and I really hope you’ll enjoy seeing what I have to say. I believe that personal style is one of the greatest forms of expression and if you feel good it can be the biggest confidence boost. No one deserves to feel uncomfortable or insecure so I really hope I can inspire and bring some glamour into your day!

So enough rambling, here are my resolutions for the year ahead:

1. To take more photos

2. To do regular blog posts

3. Learn how to meditate

4. Join a dance class

5. Establish a great skin and bodycare routine

6. Buy a serious piece of art

7. Have more fun and experiment more with my outfits - get me out of this style rut!
